Productivity and Quality Recognized: IMS Rating the Highest Ever
OAK BROOK, IL, May 10, 2002...IMS Health (NYSE: RX) has been selected as winner of the 2001 Compass Data Center of the Year award for top performance in data center efficiency. Presented annually since 1989 by management consulting firm Compass, the award is based on objective measurements of productivity and quality, costs, and service in various categories of Information Technology operations.

Through a highly competitive process, winners of the Compass Data Center of the Year award are selected from companies that have conducted performance improvement engagements with Compass within the past twelve months.

IMS received a score of .40 on the "Hugo Factor," a proprietary composite measure of data center performance that calculates variables such as hardware and software acquisition costs and personnel productivity. Key factors contributing to IMS Health's performance were high efficiency for utilization of Computer Processing Units (CPUs), disk hardware and operations software, efficient system maintenance, and high levels of personnel productivity. IMS Health's rating is the best score awarded by Compass in the 12 years it has been benchmarking data center performance.
